This page says exactly what happens when you visit this site, including the parts that are less convenient to read. It is written to be short and specific rather than comprehensive, because a policy nobody finishes is not a policy.

The short version
- The site is a static set of pages hosted by Netlify. There is no server-side code, no database, no account, and nothing to sign up for.
- It sets no cookies and runs no advertising or remarketing tags.
- Two things are loaded from other companies’ servers: Google Analytics, but only after you agree to it, and Google Fonts, which happens automatically before you are asked. Both are described below, and the font one is called out honestly rather than buried.
- Nothing you type here reaches me. There is no form on this site.
Who runs this site
Aravind Hebbali, based in Bengaluru, India. The contact address is the same one in the footer of every page. If anything on this page is wrong or unclear, that is worth telling me about.
What is loaded from other companies
| Who | What | When | Before you are asked? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Analytics 4, to count visits | Only after you accept or choose “essential only” | No | |
| Source Sans Pro webfont | Every page, automatically | Yes | |
| Netlify | Serves the files | Every page | Yes |
Google Fonts is the awkward one, and it is worth being direct about: the Bootstrap theme this site uses includes a stylesheet rule that pulls the font from fonts.googleapis.com. That request reaches Google before the consent banner is answered, and it necessarily discloses your IP address to them in the process. Self-hosting the font would remove it; that change is worth making and I have not made it here.
The rest of the site has no third-party embeds at all — no videos, no maps, no chat widgets, no social media buttons that load anything. Calendly and LinkedIn appear only as ordinary links that take you to another site, and those sites have their own policies.
Google Analytics
Used for one purpose: knowing which pages get read. It is configured for basic page measurement, with no advertising or conversion features.
If you accept, a page view sends Google the page you are on and its title, the page you came from, your approximate country and city derived from your IP address, your browser, operating system, screen resolution and language, and an identifier stored in a cookie so your visits can be grouped. The IP address itself is used to work out the location and is not stored. Google’s own documentation on what Google Analytics collects and how location works covers this in more detail than a site policy can.
Two things you should know that are easy to miss:
- Google Signals is switched on for this property, which lets Google report aggregated demographic and interest data. Google states this data is not used to identify individual visitors, but the setting lives in the Analytics property rather than on this site, and it was on when I looked.
- There is no advertising measurement. No Google Ads tag is present, so no click identifiers are sent and your visits here are not connected to any ad profile I control.
If you choose “essential only”, the tag still loads so I can see that a page was viewed, but with storage denied. You get an anonymous page count and no cookie is set.
Changing your mind
You can withdraw or change your choice at any time. It takes effect on your next page view.
Clearing cookies and site data for aravindhebbali.com in your browser has the same effect.
Links to other sites
This site links to package documentation on CRAN and Rsquared Academy, book downloads, GitHub repositories, LinkedIn, Calendly, and a blog. Those are plain links: nothing is loaded from them until you click, and once you do, their own privacy policies apply rather than this one.
What this site does not do
No advertising. No remarketing or retargeting. No selling or sharing of data. No behavioural profiling for ads. No third-party analytics other than the one above. No cross-site tracking of any kind. No server logs containing personal data beyond what Netlify records automatically for delivering files.
Contact
Questions, corrections, or a request to delete data associated with your visits — email me at the address in the footer. Requests about the data Google Analytics holds are best made directly to Google, which is the only party that can act on them; I can only stop sending new data.
